Together with its implementing partners Concree and Yessal Agrihub, the belgian development agency has launched an innovative and disruptive digital transformation training scheme for micro-businesses operating in agriculture and the green economy, as part of the DIRECCT project funded by the European Union.
On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the presence of Mr. Thierno Birahim NDAO, Secretary General of the Kaffrine Chamber of Commerce, representing the governors of Kaffrine and Kaolack, Mr. Simon VANDEN-BROEKE, representing the European Union Delegation in Senegal, and Annick PEETERS, representing the Belgian Development Agency, Enabel, the DIRECCT entrepreneurship support project organized an official ceremony at the Kaoloack Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to launch digital skills training for MSMEs in the Sine Saloum regions, and distribute the “Digibox” training kit.
For 3 months, adopting an impact-oriented approach, the project will provide practical and relevant training, focusing on the concrete application of digital skills in your entrepreneurial context.
Based on the lessons learned from the diagnostic study and the needs of entrepreneurs, the project has designed the “DigiBox”: an innovative “phygital” device combining the best practices of active pedagogy, in particular the “flipped classroom” and “mobile learning” tools to ensure the transmission of knowledge and know-how. The DigiBox is also designed to offer tailor-made training to meet the specific needs of entrepreneurs active in the plant production, animal production, processing and marketing sectors in Senegal, and to support them as they upgrade their skills in their digital transitions.
The ceremony also marked the start of digital transformation training courses for MSMEs in 9 departments in 5 regions of central Senegal, and the distribution of “DigiBoxes” to representatives of the 202 MSMEs benefiting from the project.
As a reminder, the implementation of the entrepreneurial intervention of the DIRECCT program executed by Enabel, aims to promote the creation of wealth and jobs through the digital transformation of microenterprises (MSMEs) operating in the field of agriculture and the green economy in Senegal’s groundnut basin, contributing to strategic objective 71 of the Digital Senegal 2025 strategy, by improving the digital skills of managers and employees of MSMEs in the Thiès, Diourbel, Kaffrine, Fatick and Kaolack regions, and supporting the effective and sustainable adoption and integration of digital management solutions for 20 MSMEs from the Senegalese and international ecosystems.
