In Haiti, an Idea Cube to facilitate access to education

Within the framework of the DIRECCT programme, Bibliothèques Sans Frontières is working to strengthen digitalization to promote access to culture and education in Haiti thanks to an innovative concept: the idea cube.

These are digital libraries that are energy independent and do not depend on the internet. They allow access to thousands of contents without any connection. BSF and DIRECCT are planning to equip several schools and libraries with the idea cube in order to increase the resilience and continuity of education in the event of a crisis, thanks to digital technology.

BSF teams have conducted a study to assess the content needed by the schools and libraries that will receive the Ideas cubes. They are currently working on the selection of content in several languages (including Haitian Creole and French) and on various themes. Eventually, 15,000 people will have access to these resources.
